Leaders of the global nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity are among the many remembering the life and legacy of the late President Jimmy Carter after he left the Oval Office.
While the political career of the 39th President of the United States spanned 18 years, more than a third of Carter’s century of living was spent as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, an organization with a mission of putting God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.
“He put it on the map. He really did,” said John Litten, president and CEO of Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity. “You could say anything you want about his presidency. He’s probably got the most consequential and impactful post presidency that we’ve seen in our nation.”
