Comment by Farid:
Ridvan fails to mention that the details that we have of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus comes to us six centuries after the rise of Islam. We do not have access to the information that was recorded by pre-Islamic sources like Jacob of Serugh or Gregory of Tours. One cannot be certain if the information present in the earlier sources match or conflict with what has been narrated in order to make a case for plagiarism.
More importantly, the Qur'an clearly conflicts with the late account preserved by Jacobus da Varagine in multiple areas, from the geography of the events to the ideologies held by the sleepers.

The Seven Sleepers were not known to the people of Makkah, where the verses were revealed. Moreover, there was no Christian community either for one to assume that the Prophet (peace be upon him) learned of this narrative from them. Waraqa bin Nawfal had already passed away ten years prior as well. Ridvan's absurd theory of Christians casually telling Mohammad (peace be upon him) about the Seven Sleepers is quite far-fetched. If this was something that he took from them, he would have been called out for it, especially during the Makkan era where the Muslims were a minority and not politically active.
