Charles Rementer was convicted of causing the death of Mary Berry during an assault. The court found that Rementer had pursued Berry, dragged her back to his car, and threw her in the front seat, resulting in her death. Rementer argued that the evidence was insufficient to prove his conduct caused Berry's death and that the Commonwealth failed to prove malice. The court considered whether there was a direct and substantial causal link between Rementer's conduct and Berry's death and whether there was evidence of malice.
