A quick and safe way to scent your home is by warming wax melts. There are different shapes and packaging available, but wax liners are perfect! They're clean, convenient, easy to change, & easy to recycle!
You can recycle the liners indefinitely; this cuts down on packaging costs and trash accumulation. Some liners may get darker or discolor - especially if left on the warmer for a really long time. I've used some of them 5 times and they look the same, however, (I am assuming) the liners may lose integrity over time.
There are many waxes and combinations you can use. Or just keep it simple and use tart wax which is specifically designed for this. I'll be using harmony blend paraffin wax because it soaks up more fragrance oil and pillar wax because it gets really hard. Wax melts should always be really hard and bone dry to the touch; there shouldn’t be friction when you rub them. Melts should dislodge from packaging easily and leave no residue behind.
Melt 12 ounces of wax. Once wax is fully melted and under 200 degrees Fahrenheit, add 4 ounces fragrance oil. Stir well. You may also add a bit of mica. At this point the wax will be around 150-170 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour the wax into liners. Let the melts cool & harden, then cure them several days before using.
*These are really heavily-scented wax melts. You can add less fragrance but not more or they may come out soft and mushy.*
RECYLING THE WAX & LINERS
Once the scent is depleted, put a new one in and set the old melt aside to cool and harden. Once you have several old melts, pop out the wax & prepare it as before. 12 ounces of wax + 4 ounces of fragrance oil. Pour wax into old/used liners.
