The Central government has decided to defer the restriction on the import of certain laptops and computers until November 1. This allows a three-month window for companies to import these devices. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade accounted that, the import restriction will be in effect from November 1 onwards. No entity will be permitted to import laptops, computers, and related items without a license after that date. However, import consignments can be cleared without a license until October 31, 2023. This decision is a partial reversal of the August 3 order, which had initially imposed immediate import restrictions on these devices for security and Atmanirbhar Bharat promotion reasons.
