A 101-year-old woman from Camborne has defied her age by flying through the air like Peter Pan. Kate Orchard became the oldest person in Britain to fly on stage after being nominated by her granddaughter Kyra to have a go in the wires on the Cornwall Playhouse stage at Hall for Cornwall.
Ahead of their 2023 Christmas show, Peter Pan, Hall for Cornwall had asked for the public's help to find the oldest person in Cornwall who would like to strap into a harness, and be flown by wires across the stage like the stars in their production. Having celebrated her 100th birthday with a glider flight from RNAS Culdrose, it was no surprise that WWII veteran Kate Orchard was ready to accept another daredevil challenge without hesitation.
