Golgi Apparatus:;
Golgi Apparatus was identified in 1897 by the Italian scientist Camillo Golgi and named after him in 1898. Golgi Apparatus is also known as golgi complex, golgi body, or golgi.
Golgi bodies are disc shaped group of flattened sacs or cisternae. Golgi bodies also include small Vesicles and large Vacuoles. Vesicles are used to pack cell material for transfer. Vacuole act as nutrient and water storage units.
Function of Golgi Apparatus:
Golgi Apparatus's primary purpose is to process, store, and package cell material which are going to be release by cell.
Golgi body produces secretory vesicles which include enzyme inside. One exapmle of such vesicle is zymogen granules.
Golgi Complex forms certain yolk substances in the developing oocytes. Oocyte is immature form of female egg cell.
Golgi Apparatus helps in retinal pigment formation in the retinal cells. Retinal pigment help in absorbing light.
Golgi Body helps in the formation of acrosome in sperm cells. Because of acrosome, sperm cell combine with egg cell to form zygote.
Lysosomes :
Lysosomes are a kind of waste disposal system of the cell. Waste inside cell is formed during cellular respiration and other energy generating processes.
Lysosomes originate either from the Golgi apparatus or directly from the endoplasmic reticulum.
Each lysosome is of a rounded structure. It is filled with dense material.
Function of Lysosomes:
Lysosomes help to keep the cell clean by digesting any foreign material as well as worn-out cell organelles.
When the cell gets damaged, lysosomes may burst and the enzymes digest their own cell. Therefore lysosomes are also known as suicidal bags of a cell.
Centrioles:
Centrioles were first described by Henneguy and Leuhossek in 1897. The centrioles are micro tubular structures, found in two shapes-rods and granules located near the nucleus of the animal cell.
Function of Centrioles:
At the time of cell division, the centrioles produce spindle fibres and astral bodies. They also decide the plan of cell division.
