British troops should help defend Ukraine's border as part of any peace deal, Boris Johnson has told the Telegraph.
He made the comments as part of a wide-ranging interview on Ukraine: The Latest.
"What you can't do is do what the British government is currently doing, which is going around saying, nobody wants NATO membership, we can't even talk about it.
"It's pathetic... This country, we should be leading. We should be spelling out the parameters of the end state. They have to be a free, independent, sovereign Ukraine that is embedded in Western security architecture.
"Now, for my money, that has to be NATO. I don't see any, I don't see any alternative... So I think we should certainly be putting troops in to backfill.
"I don't think we should be sending in combat troops to take on the Russians, but I think as part of the solution, as part of the end state, you're going to want to have multinational European peace-keeping forces."
