In this video, I discuss how crude oil prices could trade at zero or below. Something similar has happened in the past with electricity and natural gas prices. When there is a massive over-supply of a commodity, it can sometimes make sense for a producer or storer to pay someone to take it off their hands (which is the equivalent of selling it at a negative price).
The Saudi-Russia oil price war has combined with the COVID-19 crisis to massively increase oil supply at the exact moment that energy demand is going off a cliff, leading to negative oil prices already for some of the oil sands producers as well as types of oil like Wyoming sour.
At the end of my video, I discuss how the current crisis has been simultaneously deflationary for the commodity complex (gold excepted), while being inflationary for gold, stocks, and Bitcoin due to massive central bank money printing.
