Ninety-two-year-old Evertonian Alex enjoyed a chat with Toffees star Mason Holgate on Friday after the defender reached out to him as part of the Club’s Blue Family campaign.
Lifelong fan Alex has been attending Everton matches since he was just three years old and watched the great Dixie Dean at Goodison Park.
Alex, who remains a Season Ticket Member in the Lower Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End, lives alone in Crosby and is currently in isolation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Blue Family outreach campaign aims to maintain contact with fans and provide support and assistance to the most vulnerable, socially isolated and ‘at risk’ members of society across Liverpool and beyond during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Club has provided a cash injection of £50,000 to launch Blue Family and a fundraising page will offer fans the chance to support the initiative.
Everton in the Community will also distribute essential food parcels, including breakfast packs for young children, and provide mental health support and advice to those in need. To find out more, visit evertonfc.com/bluefamily.
