The Penguins knew that Evgeni Malkin would have to step up amidst the many injuries to key players, including captain Sidney Crosby. He has been putting together a complete game on the ice, and tonight was no exception. Malkin’s three points (1G-2A) against the Red Wings led the way for the black and gold as they faced a struggling Detroit team on the road. Jake Guentzel also recorded 1G-2A. Kris Letang (2A), John Marino (1G-1A), and Chad Ruhwedel (1G-1A) also recorded multi-point nights. Ruhwedel’s goal was his first of the season. Matt Murray returned to the net, turning aside 25 of 28 shots.
