Music: Philip Glass: from Concerto for violin and orchestra [1987] part I & II

About the performance In this first NDT 2 programme of the season, the young dancers are being put to the test to see how far their interpretation of both existing and new work can go. For Significant Moments, NDT welcomes back longtime friend to the company Alexander Ekman, an avid creator of dynamic, energetic pieces which are often infused with humor and large group work. Ekman will create a world premiere for the second company. We will also welcome a new face to NDT, Phillip Chbeeb, a young maker with a strong connection to hip-hop who, for this programme, is invited to create a new choreography with the dancers of NDT 2. To complete this triptych, NDT brings back a significant work by house choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot. Signing Off (2003), originally created for NDT 1, marked a pivotal moment in the creators’ career and was awarded the prestigious Benois de la Danse.
