For student grade paints find companies that are giving you the most single pigment paints in your sets like Etchr who researched and tested. (1/2 your set should be single pigment paints)
Remember when purchasing handmade paints always go with paint-makers that provide you with pigment information so you know are getting quality paints. Handmade paints are expensive so don't trust just anyone. Do your research.
My recommendation is always to start with better cotton paper and then move on to better paints. Cotton paper is going to give you the best results and make watercolor a joy. Sub par/low quality supplies can make you think watercolor is hard and stop you before you even get started because the paints muddy or the paper gets rubbed through. And you would be missing out on a very joyfilled hobby ( all the beautiful colors) I always recommend buying the best supplies you can afford for the best experience. 6 tubes or pans of high quality artist grade (single pigment) cool and warm primaries is usually the same price as a entry level set of watercolors like White nights, Paul Ruben etc. And to begin you really only technically need 3 paints: one red, one yellow and one blue. But if you have fear of using high price paints or so fearful to color mix and play with your paints to learn about them, then starter sets like the Etchr set may be just the thing.
