At GCFI73, there was a recreational fisheries workshop around priority themes including effective management practices, data collection, incorporating recreational voices into the participatory process, monitoring efforts, enforcement and others. This workshop served as a way to convene and determine next steps to advancing sustainable recreational fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean. After the workshop, together with the Environmental Defense Fund, we expect to create and share with the public, a short report with recommendations tailored for decision-makers.
