Somerset farmer Richard Payne, who farms at Manor Farm, near Taunton, begins bean harvest at 8pm to avoid pod shatter in hot daily temperatures. Moisture levels are coming in well at 13.5%, with beans showing good colour. Richard says his yields should be close to the farm average, and would be 50% lower if he harvested during the daytime.
