About the Video:
This video has the history leading to Afzan Khan killing his 64 wifes.
In early 1600’s Bijapur’s Adil Shahi Dynasty is at its peak ruling most of current Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Maratha empire has been taking shape under Shivaji Maharaj and taking over territories from the Adil Shahi's.
Adil Shahi rulers are unhappy on the Maratha expansion.
Afzal Khan, a tall and heavy person is Adil Sahahi army’s commander and has never been defeated. He has 64 wifes.
Ali Adil Shah II asks Afzal Khan to eliminate Shivaji and he accepts the challenge.
Afzal Khan gets a dream on being killed by Shivaji and consults a sufi Pir who predicts the same.
Afzal Kahn decides to kill all his wifes before the campaign against Shivaji
Takes them to an isolated place outside Bijapur (now Vijayapura) and drowns them in a well one after the other. 60 are drowned
4 wifes escape but are captured and killed
Very sad story but part of our history.
