The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, otherwise known as the "Six Triple Eight," is finally getting recognized for its historic impact during World War II. The all-Black women's Army Corps unit recently received the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal, and now a movie about the Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington and directed by Tyler Perry, is available to watch on Netflix.
We take a closer look at the Six Triple Eight, and some of its service members who went on to live and raise families here in Hampton Roads.
