The much-awaited Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link is almost complete, with the Katra-Banihal section featuring 37 bridges and 27 tunnels. Among them, the Chenab Railway Bridge, the world’s highest, stands out. The bridge’s steel arch was completed with precision in 2021, followed by the “Golden Joint” ceremony in August 2022. Now, the track linking has been finished. The Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge connecting Katra and Reasi, is also a highlight, and locals are thrilled about the upcoming train service. They expect it to create job opportunities and give a boost to tourism.
