A video documenting the world's largest container vessel "BARZAN" visiting the Port of Felixstowe, United Kingdom on it's maiden voyage this past June.
In the first part of the video shows the massive 19,870 TEU capacity ultra large container vessel BARZAN arriving at the port in the early morning of June 25, 2015 inbound from Asia. Then I included a clip of the United Arab Shipping Company flagship vessel unloading containers at the Port of Felixstowe berths 8/9 terminal. Then in the last part of the video, BARZAN is seen sailing from the port bound for Rotterdam, the Netherlands in the early evening of June 26, 2015.
UASC states the TEU capacity at 18,800 but in fact it's actual nominal capacity of 19,870 TEU makes BARZAN the world's largest container vessel. Taller lashing bridges and wheelhouse has allow an extra layer of empties giving the higher capacity.
The BARZAN is also the world's longest ship of any kind currently in service at 400 m (1300 ft). Several longer tankers were built but have since been scraped.
Built by Hyundai Sambo in South Korea, the DNV-GL class BARZAN has the "Gas Ready" class notation and is the world's most environmentally friendly ultra large container vessel (ULVC).
BARZAN and five UASC sister vessels of 19,870 TEU will remain the largest container vessels until sometime in 2017 when even larger container vessels over 20,000 TEU are built for several shipping lines.
UASC is part of the Ocean Three alliance with partners CMA CGM and China Shipping.
