(21 Feb 1952) The opening ceremony of the Sixth Winter Olympic Games was performed by Princess Ragnhild, daughter of Crown Prince Olav. Thirty nations (a record) marched in the procession and the hoisting of the Olympic Flag was followed by the arrival of the torch. Jeannette Altwegg is seen competing in the compulsory figure skating, which she won in superb style.
