The middle triplet in jazz drumming can be a difficult rhythm to play, but when mastered, it opens up your rhythmic vocabulary.
Another challenge in drumming is playing brushes without losing the legato, or sweeping aspect of the groove. This becomes even more difficult when we introduce the middle triplet.
If you’ve tried this before, you may have found that you get tangled up going in and out of rhythmic phrases. This brush lesson will help you discover choreography to overcome this common challenge.
I’m going to show you 6 rhythmic exercises that utilise the middle triplet which will allow you maintain the momentum of the groove.
