In January 2021, people across the United States watched two historic events unfold: Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff won US Senate races in Georgia, making them the state’s first Black and Jewish senators, respectively; and rioters seeking to overturn the US presidential election breached the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. How did narratives of race and religion shape the conversation around these important events?
Participants discussed these important questions during the first session of "Imagining New Stories of Race and Religion," a virtual, conversation-based class.
David Hooker, Associate Professor of the Practice of Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding for the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, facilitates discussions for the class, which meets weekly on Thursday evenings through March 4, 2021. The course is presented by the Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion.
