Red Vented Bulbul Courtship Display (Pycnonotus cafer) It is also referred as mating dance or courtship dance or affection display. We can see such displays during breeding season of Red Vented Bulbul.
Most of the Bulbul bird species show similar courtship displays. This display help them pair-bonding during non-breeding season, and may synchronize the mating process in the breeding season.
For mate acquisition, mostly male birds use various postures, display of brilliant plumage and badges(bright colored patches). They have also been known to use undulating flights and/or spreading of tail feathers
along with fascinating songs to attract a prospective mate (Welty & Baptista 1988).
This kind of courtship displays are important bird behavior.
