Swami Mukundananda in this episode tells us how doubt in devotion can led to disastrous results. Doubt is an affliction which rots the pillar of faith like a termite eats the wood. Doubt takes us miles back in our devotion. Swamiji illustrates this with a beautiful example of how when Lord Shiv and Parvati (in her earlier descension as Sati) saw Shri Ram, in the forest Lord Shiv bowed in obeisance but Parvati was puzzled to see Lord Ram in a distressed state in remembrance of Sita. Parvati wondered can Lord Ram who is a repository of knowledge, omniscient, omnipresent, wander in search of his wife like an ignorant man? She doubts if he is God why is he in such a disheveled state, if he is ‘sachidananda’ why is he grieving. Her mind was filled with infinite doubt. Lord Shiva forewarned her but the seed of doubt germinated in her mind and she decided to test Lord Ram. Listen to the consequence of doubt in the full clip.
