Hi, this is my first time flying to the US. To save more money, we decided to cross the border from Metro Vancouver to Bellingham and then from Bellingham to Las Vegas. It was a good idea to leave early in the morning (3 AM) because there were no lineups at the border, and it took us 50 minutes to get to the airport. Additionally, if you’re not Canadian (with a Canadian passport), but you have a valid US visa, you might have to visit the border office to extend your I-94 travel records in order to cross the border. This needs to be renewed every 6 months, and it costs $6 USD. The airport parking costs $55 CAD for 4 days and 3 nights.
We arrived in Vegas around 8 AM in the morning and still had about eight hours to kill before the check-in time at 4 PM. So, I will take you on a walk to explore the Las Vegas Strip during these eight hours. We wanted to maximize this trip by seeing everything possible. On the first day, we aimed to visit almost every place, so we could take it easy on the following day.
We stayed in a hotel off the strip that provided a shuttle bus to and from the hotel, which saved us a lot of money. I’ll also show you how you can save more money by taking the public bus. With this bus, you can travel anywhere around the Las Vegas Strip, even to Fremont Old Vegas and off the strip. The best part is that you don’t have to walk under the sun because the public bus has strong air conditioning and Wi-Fi at the same time.
The strip is divided into south and north. There are numerous stores, casinos, hotel resorts, and bars to check out. If you’re okay with walking, it’s a good option, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you’ll likely be walking a lot. Most places, such as hotels, casinos, and bars, are open 24 hours, except for some stores that usually close around 10-12 PM. So, make sure to get everything you need before they close.
We were there just a week ago in early August, so the sun was quite harsh, and we were sweating a lot. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. For Canadians, remember that the water is not drinkable, so be cautious and don’t drink directly from the tap.
