South Koreans, including President Yoon Suk Yeol, mourned the victims of the Halloween crush over the weekend that killed more than 150 people in the capital.
MORE: Various mourning sites across the city, including one outside the Seoul City Hall Plaza where Yoon attended Monday, were filled with people paying tribute to victims.
Streets near where the stampede had occurred days earlier were empty Monday night, with Halloween festivities called off across the country.
The crush came as Itaewon was just starting to thrive again after more than two years of COVID-19 restrictions. Across the country, events such as autumn foliage festivals and K-pop concerts have also been canceled, threatening to crimp growth further.
