West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the GST row. Earlier the government had asked states to borrow money because of the GDP gap which was caused due to corornavirus pandemic in India. The fallen GDP rate is now to be beard by the states which are already in debt.
This has caused a lot of unrest in various state governments. Mamta Banerjee has refused this proposal by the centre stating this is violation of the premise of federalism and the payment promised by the centre should be made. Moreover, she proclaims that the centre should be the one to borrow money as the rates are low for the centre.
