A unique preview of the International Organ Academy Alkmaar 2022

The inspiration behind very old music is that we do not know how it was played at that time. That opens the way for the contemporary musician to derive a multitude of musical stories from the surviving music manuscripts. With such imaginative musicians as Benoît Mernier, Michel Bouvard, Johannes Strobl, Martin Schmeding and Menno van Delft, the coming academy promises to be an exciting one. What kind of richness of stories will they take you to and immerse you in? And which of them do you want to tell or retell yourself?

Pieter van Dijk tells his story using the score of the Fantasia auf die Manier eines Echo [SwWV 275] by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) on the Van Covelens organ from 1511.
