AST fills and tests all of its filters before shipping them. This ensures there is no problem with the hulls. The backwash trigger mechanism is also tested so that our filters have a consistent vigorous backwash. Our PolyGeyser filters are named because of the spurting water that occurs during backwash.
This demonstration is done without beads and screen to better illustrate the "scrubbing" action of our backwash. The vigorous bubbles and abrasive action of the beads rubbing against one another knocks off excessive biofilm (harmful to the nitrifying bacteria) and trapped solids and purges them into the sludge chamber.
