This is a tutorial on how to paint a realistic metallic gold effect on any object for arts and crafts or cosplay. Well, it's more a video journal of how I painted my own project based on other videos I found on YouTube (Gordon Tarpley's videos in particular). I'm not very experienced with things like this and wanted to share what I learned. When I bought my own idol statue from Raiders of the Lost Ark I wanted to paint it gold myself. But quickly discovered how difficult it is to get a really convincing gold sheen. I go over my process from start to finish, sharing details about every material and step along the way.
