A DDA (Dutch Dakota Association) Douglas DC-3 'Dakote' has its propellers turned manually by the ground crew to ensure all exhaust valves are opened so exess oil can drain out of the cilinders. Then the engines are started with a generous amount of smoke coming from the exhaust pipes. This is due to oil which is drained from the cilinders into the exhaust pipes. The taxiing and takeoff are not filmed by me. However, I did get the Dakota on tape when it accelerated along the runway at Aviodrome (aviation musuem) during the 40th anniversary of the 'Foundation FokkerFour'. This takeoff was with a number of passengers. They flew for about 40 minutes before arriving again. After the second arrival, the Dakota stayed on ground for the remainder of the day.
