In Conversation & Statement Analysis, my primary methods, a word is not interesting in and of itself; the context makes it interesting. One instance of seemingly deceptive language use is not necessarily remarkable; repeated instances are. The analyst asks questions like: What does this word refer back to? How is it being repeated or avoided? Which patterns do we see? And, ultimately, what is the meaning of the subject’s words?
