In this paper, Dr. Sullivan asks after the current anxiety around lesbian extinction. In order to explore this anxiety, Dr. Sullivan unpacks the meaning of lesbian across 40 years of feminist and queer projects. Dr. Sullivan pays specific attention to the use and usefulness of lesbian today.
Mairead Sullivan is Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. Sullivan worked for a number of year in LGBT health with a focus on lesbian breast cancer survivors. Sullivan’s work has been published in: Women’s Studies Quarterly, The Journal of Lesbian Studies, the Journal of Homosexuality, Differences, among others.
