The blaze (pictured), which took place at around 3pm on Tuesday, saw the coastguard dispatched to waters off Penzance, Cornwall. Theresa Appleton, 57, and her husband, Mike, 59, had called the emergency services after spotting smoke on the horizon while on a wildlife spotting tour. The skipper of their vessel, Duncan Jones, had helped pull the two men to safety before radioing the Coastguard for help. Two lifeboats, one from Penleee and one from Sennen, were sent to the area alongside a rescue helicopter. But they did not arrive in time to stop the fire completely taking hold and destroying the fishing vessel.
