Can you or can't your charge an EV from a portable battery?
Yes you can!
I've been wanting to try this for a while but until recently I've it had the kit or genuine remote opportunity to try it.
What I needed was an EV charging cable and car that van support 8amp charging. Our EGolf supports 5a charging unbelievably and the Mini's 'Reduced and Lowest' modes work a treat.
Reducing the AC load to under 2.5 kw meant the Ecoflow Delta 2 Max could happily charge the car
Reducing it further to 8amps meant the Delta 2 Max could charge for longer making better use of any solar power but also the smaller Delta 2 with 1kwh storage could charge the Mini too.
The River 2 Pro was too small with only 1kw output to charge the car but happily export energy on the DC car adapter into the Delta 2 providing a few more tenths of a kilowatt hour.
600w of portable solar panels connected just to the Delta hi 2 Max added some extra energy also and proved the concept that with enough portable panels, a meaningful charge would be possible.... On a sunny day.
As it was added 13% to the Mini which gave me a healthy contingency for our onward journey. Not huge but on a better day with more solar I think 25% would be possible.
All in all a fun test.
