Spikes Asia Classic Talk: 2015
It All Starts With a Pencil
Nils Andersson, Former President & Chief Creative Officer, TBWA\Greater China
Every year, on the final day of the Festival, it is a Spikes Asia tradition to hear from a select number of our President’s talking about something important and personal to their creative outlook on the world. In these eye-opening talks they tell stories, set records straight, decry bad practices or pose questions to the industry at large.
In this talk, Nils Andersson discussed how the simplest starting points and the right thought processes can help lead to great work.
Citing experiences from his early learnings at art college to those from today’s multi-channelled and connected world, Andersson explores how the right fundamentals still apply to all, and argues that having an idea first and not stopping until you find the perfect way to execute it has never been more vital. He talks about trends in China at the time, his work with global brands in local markets and the stories behind a number of case studies and pieces of work from the region. A lot of what he said to inspire the creative community in 2015 still stands true today.
