With its unique art treasures, the Art History Museum is one of the most important museums in the world.

The rich holdings include objects from five millennia, from the time of ancient Egypt to the end of the 18th century. The picture gallery is one of the most important of its kind and houses masterpieces from Dürer to Raphael, Arcimboldo and Titian, Rubens and Velázquez to works by Rembrandt and Vermeer.

Particularly noteworthy is the world's largest collection of works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, including such famous paintings as The Tower of Babel, The Peasant Wedding and The Hunters in the Snow.
