(3 Sep 2016) Security was tight on Saturday as thousands of Kurds gathered in the German city of Cologne to protest.
Organisers said the rally was aimed in part at protesting Turkey's military intervention in Syria and the Turkish president's "dictatorial behaviour".
Cologne police put more than 1,000 officers in place to prevent trouble.
Many of the protesters carried flags with the image of Abdullah Ocalan, the jailed leader of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.
Police said Ocalan images were allowed, but demonstrators could not show symbols of the PKK.
A month ago, up to 40,000 people rallied at the same site to denounce the attempted military coup in Turkey and show support for Erdogan.
