The World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) Distinguished Lecture Series - season 2 episode 1.
These talks aim to spotlight exceptional speakers with unique perspectives on the world. This episode was organised in cooperation with the Effective Altruism Debate Championship, and in it we host Joey Savoie.
Joey Savoie is the founder and strategic director of Charity Entrepreneurship. He works on high-level strategy across all the departments and mentorship and training for the program participants of the incubation programs. He is also one of the primary contributors to the handbook "How to start a high-impact nonprofit" .Prior to Charity Entrepreneurship, Joey co-founded Charity Science, a meta-organization that increased the amount of counterfactual funding going to high impact charities. Subsequently, he co-founded Charity Science Health, a nonprofit that increases vaccination rates in India using mobile phones and behavioural nudges. He has given lectures on various aspects of charity entrepreneurship and Effective Altruism in Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, EAG London, EAG San Francisco, Berlin, Basel, Vancouver, Stockholm, and others.
Joey's talk is titled: "Introduction to Effective Altruism".
The talk consists of 2 elements: 1. A brief introduction of the speaker by Dan Lahav (the CA of Korea WUDC). 2. The speakers presentation of their topic and their research, work, or experience in the field.
