Twiggs County deputies are investigating a homicide and suspected burglary after a woman and her husband were found dead Saturday morning. According to Twiggs County Sheriff Darren Mitchum, deputies received a call about a burglary in the 1100-block of Riggins Mill Road just after 9 a.m. The call was from the homeowner’s daughter, who said the house had been rummaged through and the safe had been broken into. She also reported her parents were missing. Mitchum says a group of people hunting near the home heard a phone ringing and followed the sound to a truck where 65-year-old Peggy White was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. 70-year-old Fred Ray White's body was found in a field at the edge of the woods near Stone Creek Baptist Church, according to Mitchum.
