WAG9 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotive that was developed in 1995 by ABB Group for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), AC Current (A), Goods traffic (G), 9th generation (9) locomotive. WAG9 started service in 1996. WAG9 locomotives are built by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW). WAG9 was the most powerful Freight locomotive until the arrival of WAG12.

The WAP7 locomotive is the passenger variant of WAG9.

WAG9 with Insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) traction control feature is denoted by the WAG9i and a technical variant of the same is WAG9H, "H" meaning "Heavy". The WAG9H/9Hi locomotives are the second heaviest after the WAG12.
