In a blow to Delhi's Deputy CM, SC refuses to grant bail in Excise Policy case being probed by CBI.
In a major setback for AAP leader Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court has rejected his plea seeking bail in the Delhi excise policy case.
Sisodia was arrested last month by CBI over his alleged role in irregularities in the scrapped liquor policy. His bail plea was earlier denied by a special CBI court and Delhi HC.
Hearing his appeal against that, the Supreme Court upheld the lower courts' decision and refused to grant bail observing the charges against him were serious.
This judgement deals a blow to AAP which has maintained that the case against Sisodia is politically motivated. The party may now have to strategize afresh as their Deputy CM faces extended custody.
