Steel fabrication techniques are varied but the ability to incorporate sub-axis spindle positioning for steel plate fabrication is just another innovative design from FICEP. In this case, FICEP uses this technology to enhance the productivity of the Tipo G line of plate processor machines.
Traditional pull through style plate processors must clamp and unclamp the material for each spindle operation. In addition they must move the plate in the length axis when the x-axis coordinate for a hole changes. The Tipo line of plate processor machines from FICEP totally eliminates these unproductive cycles. In many cases this cuts the drilling cycle per hole by up to 50%.
The elimination of the repetitive clamping and unclamping on traditional plate processor machines gives the Tipo G product line a clear advantage. Not only is the cycle time reduced but also accuracy is greatly enhanced as the plate remains rigidly clamped when drilling the typical hole pattern.
The ability to perform milling operations is also expanded as the plate remains rigidly clamped. Just the spindle is positioned in both the x and y axis during typical milling routines.
