Here are the verbal cues from my new book, Teaching Yoga with Verbal Cues, for Utthita Pārśvakoṇāsana
— Lunge! Make your right thigh parallel to the ground, and stack the knee over the ankle.
— Swing your right knee to meet your right arm.
— Press your right fingertips or hand on the ground, and brace your right arm.
— Reach up through your top arm on the diagonal; line up the arm over your left ear.
— Lengthen your back leg from hip to foot.
— Ground your back thigh; press the femur bone deep into the flesh of the leg.
— Brace the back leg to resist the lunge of your front leg.
— Reach down through your back leg and up through the top arm.
— Your back leg, spine, and top arm form an unbroken diagonal line in the side plane.
— Rotate your spine along the diagonal line; open your chest and navel to the sky.
— Gaze upward from in front of your top arm; then turn your eyeballs in the sockets and gaze at your left palm while continuing to align your head with your torso.
