On April 29, Indian adventurer and sailor Abhilash Tomy became the first Asian to complete the epic 30,000 nautical mile Golden Globe Race (GGR), the longest endurance race on the planet. Tomy sailed across the finish line at France’s Les Sables d’Olonne on Saturday morning bringing to an end a nearly eight-month audacious expedition across oceans and around the great capes.
Treacherous seas, massive winds, a challenge pure and raw, placing adventure ahead of winning – all without the benefits of modern technology. But Abhilash Tomy was not deterred.
