Over the next five years over 80,000 people will die from cancer in NSW, but this World Cancer Day everyone can reduce their risk and help others.
World Cancer Day on Saturday, 4 February is a global event aiming to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about the disease.
This year the theme of ‘We can. I can’ highlights how everyone can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.
There are small changes individuals can make to live a healthier life and reduce their cancer risk, like saying: “I can wear more sunscreen,” “I can walk more,” or “I can make sure I get regular breast cancer screening.”
But we can also come together to make a difference for people with cancer, pledging that: “We can keep improving cancer treatment,” or “We can turn research findings into new treatments for people with cancer.”
No matter who you are or what you do, everyone is encouraged to share a message on Saturday, 4 February, using #WeCanICan and #WorldCancerDay across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
