On a sun-dappled Sunday morning in early September, a crowd of around 60 people gathered at the Sac River. Rather than casting fishing poles or sight-seeing along the bank, the group had come to witness a series of river baptisms after their fellowship service, creating a scene reminiscent of times gone by.

Compared to the traditional church outfitted with stained glass windows and a pipe organ, Sac River Cowboy Church's second location in a livestock center may come as a surprise, but its straw-covered floor and casual dress code offers a uniquely inviting space for worship. Over the last 18 years since the church was founded, the congregation has steadily grown, attracting a wide range of people from city-dwellers and country folk.
