I want to give some context to my poem "Buried Daughter's" for those who are unaware. In pre-Islamic history (before the message of Islam to the pagan Arab tribes) often parents who had a baby daughter would bury her alive after birth out of fear of poverty and the dislike of girls. The verse from the Quran quoted is referring against this practice. As oppression and murder contradicts the faith and is one of the two gravest sins. Islam came as a Mercy and came with Justice.
And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
For what sin she was killed?
Quran Surah At-Takwir 8-9
"Therefore, on the Day of Judgement, the female infant will be asked what sin she committed that caused here to be murdered. This will be a means of frightening her murderer. For verily, if the one who was wronged is questioned, what does the wrongdoer (the one who is guilty of the oppression) think then.." - Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Denying education and forced marriage for your daughter is a death sentence. Literally (like in majority of the world where girls are married off and die during childbirth),mentally and spiritually.
In Bangladesh where child marriage is one of the highest in the WORLD and majority of girls do not finish school because of it...1 in 11 girl die during childbirth which makes it the #1 cause of death of young girls in the country. Or if they survive have to live with fistula caused by their pregnancy their bodies wern't ready for where urine is constantly leaking...
The ignorant, backwards and un-Islamic mentality of your daughter's sexual organ being a trophy of your families honour kills women and girls all over the world everyday.
Telling your sister or daughter to be patient with an abusive husband...How different is this from burying her alive right when she is born? What is worse?
And let's forget the secrecy and shame of incest and sexual abuse within families which is another major issue that occurs in every society!
"Mommy and Daddy unbury me! For what sin was I killed?" - Buried Daughter's
"O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice as witnesses to God even as against yourselves or your parents or your kin and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for God can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts) lest ye swerve and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice verily God is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
Quran Surah Nisa:135
