Ontario, Canada's government-mandated standard residential tenancies (Lease) agreement became law April 30, 2018. It is incredibly tenant-biased and includes 6 pages of free legal advice for tenants, largely to the detriment of landlords. Critical missing clauses include occupants who aren’t lease signatories, joint and several tenancy, PIPEDA-related permissions, death of tenant, apartment abandonment, utility accounts access permission, last month interest versus top-off and much, more more.
