Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases to elect its new Assembly. On November 7 20 Assembly constituencies will vote in the first phase, while the remaining 70 seats will go to polls on November 17. The date of counting is December 3 and results will be declared simultaneously.
The ruling Congress led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and BJP are the major players in the state. In the last assembly election in 2018, Congress won 68 seats out of 90 seats in Chhattisgarh with 43.9% of votes. The BJP managed to win only 15 seats and had a vote share of 33.6%. The BJP was ousted from power after 15 years of rule.
